I'm a wife, a sister, a daughter, a mother of 5, a Jesus lover, a coffee abuser, an obsesser of all things DIY, design and decor related.
Most of what you'll see here are ways to live inexpensively, and how I put those into practice with my constant need to renovate houses.
We are a military family of 7, so houses must come big and inexpensive, and made beautiful as we go, turning what most would see as trash, into treasure.
Thanks for stopping by, stay awhile and make yourself at home. I hope you enjoy my ideas.

Wow, Katie! This looks fantastic and SO inviting! I love front porch makeovers
The “Welcome” above your house number is such a fun touch (I realize it was already there in the before) and the pot colour makes them look very high-end!
I think I’ll be on the lookout for a doormat shaped like yours instead of a rectangular one this summer.
I’ll be watching for your tutorial this weekend!
Claire
I love all the changes you did, Katie! The ones I like the most are the planters (how nice they turned out), and the light fixtures! I was also working on my front yard this past weekend, I still need to do some more work, but I wish at the end, it looks as pretty as yours!
Thanks Cristina, Your projects always turn out so good! Mine was pretty bad to start with. It’s amazing how bad the outside can look after winter!
–Katie
Katie, it’s gorgeous. Hope everyone will read how you made over the urns, too.
Thanks, Helen
Thanks Helen!

Katie- It looks great. You did a good job of sprucing it up and making it warmly welcoming for Spring and Summer. Love it- xo Diana
Very nice! I agree there is just something about a house with a fresh new flag! I found you via the hop at Someday Crafts.
Have a great rest of your week!
Hugs -
Carol
Fabulous new look! I love it!!
Thanks Anne!

I absolutely love what you did to your pots! I am thinking of redoing my boring tan colored pots and this is the perfect inspiration. Your entry is welcoming and beautiful. Enjoy. Megan
Thanks Megan! Ya, I’d waited a few years to paint them. Wish I would have done it sooner.

I love it its gorgeous! Those lanterns did it!
It looks absolutely fantastic! Awesome job.
Looking really good! Love the lanterns! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration over at Sunday’s Best!
Wow! Katie, you did a wonderful job! What a transformation…not that it looked that bad just like it had survived a rough Winter! LOL! How long did it all take? Those lights are fantastic. I think I need bigger lights like that outside my home. I think the ones I have are too small for the house. There’s something to be said for “scale”. It REALLY looks grand! (applause, cheers…standing ovation!)
Thanks Sam!
It really didn’t take too long. Too bad you don’t live closer….my neighbor gave me 7 of those lanterns!
–Katie
Love how the RED pops out and makes a statement, and LOVE your lantern light fixtures painted black! SWEET front porch!
