My Fall Back Porch

We are on day #16 in the 31 Days of Thrifty Fall Decor series.

Today’s topic:

Fall Porches

So here are my thrifty tips for fall porches.

1. Use mums!

They are so colorful. They signify fall, and are a big, bright pop of color for around $3-$5.

2. Keep what you can from summer!

If you have flowers that are still blooming from summer, don’t take them out to replace them with fall flowers, work the fall flowers into them. You’ll have more color, and more greenery in your flower pots.

Try to incorporate different colors (unless you have a color themed porch). Between a couple pumpkins, and a couple colored mums, you can have a beautiful fall porch.

Notice in the picture below, I am still using my red star, red lantern, and red geranium from summer. I just added some fall color around them.

3. Fake pumpkins aren’t bad.

I’m not a huge fan of fake flowers, but they have some pretty real looking fake pumpkins now days. If you buy them on clearance at the end of the season, you can use and reuse them year after year, because buying lots of real pumpkins every year can really add up!

4. Be creative with what you use for containers. I used this canning pot for a flower pot. I think it cost me $3, and it’s large enough to hold an assortment.

5. See who wants to get rid of produce. I had an aunt who didn’t want all her pumpkins, and many farmer’s will part with corn stalks. Gourds and squash can also be used for fall decor. See if you know anyone who’s willing to part with some.
