This is day #19 in the 31 Days of Thrifty Fall Decor series.
This really isn’t “decor”, but it is a fun fall-type accessory.
I guess you could make it a pin and pin it to a pillow…so it could be decor, but I used it on a barrette.
Today topic:
Feather-Flower Barrette
I wanted to add a “fall-ish” touch to the typical flower barrette I make.
These are the pieces I used.
(I actually used a round piece of felt to glue the clip on, but I didn’t have it on the plate at the time.)
It’s pretty easy. You cut some light weight, slinky-type material into different sized circles (see above)
Then you use this tutorial (from House of Smiths). It will teach you how to heat the edges of the flower with a candle to get them to curl upward.
Next hot glue it all together. I just glued the feathers on the back of the flower and put a circle of felt over the feathers.
Then I put a strip of felt over one side of the clip, and glued it to the circle of felt on the back.
(I wanted to take a pic of the felt on the back, but I can’t find this clip for the life of me this week…too much traveling lately!)
Then I clipped it to this headband, that I think is from Hobby Lobby. They have headbands and cute little crocheted hats. I’ve also used thinner headbands from Walmart. I like to use clips, so I can change out the flower when I want.
I made this for Eva’s photoshoot with her Nana.
Although my sisters and I sometimes roll our eyes at “another photoshoot”, my mom does a fantastic job on photographing all her grandkids every year for their birthdays and editing their pictures.
We are always so thankful after we see the pictures!
Hope everyone is ready for a fun weekend!

I'm a wife, a sister, a daughter, a mother of 5, a Jesus lover, a coffee abuser, an obsesser of all things DIY, design and decor related.
Most of what you'll see here are ways to live inexpensively, and how I put those into practice with my constant need to renovate houses.
We are a military family of 7, so houses must come big and inexpensive, and made beautiful as we go, turning what most would see as trash, into treasure.
Thanks for stopping by, stay awhile and make yourself at home. I hope you enjoy my ideas.

Oh, Katie! She looks ADORABLE! The flower barrette makes the outfit. I love it!
Thanks Cristina, Hope you had a great weekend!
