I’ve spent most of my “extra” time this week, decorating the front of my house.
This year, Christmas decorating is a little more difficult than in the past.
We still have our house on the market and I feel that it
has to look “perfect” for people coming through.
“Perfect” is unrealistic with 5 kids and jobs, and schools and, and, and …
I’m finding I have a hard time realizing where to stop.
One example is these Christmas planters I made for the front.
I couldn’t possibly just have normal planters. Where you just have a shrub with lights coming out of the planter.
No, I have to cut off all of the old “fall-ish” dying flowers….
Then I bobby-pinned the ivy so it wrapped around the side and didn’t show, and added two different kinds of evergreen clippings to the dirt in the planter.
Then I took different sized bulbs from the dollar store and put a bobby-pin through them, and pinned them on the evergreen clippings.
I really do like the way they turned out, I just feel with the small amount of “extra” time I have, they may be slightly excessive (my husband is shaking his head and laughing).
How is your Christmas decorating going?
Are you going simple, or all out?

I'm a wife, a sister, a daughter, a mother of 5, a Jesus lover, a coffee abuser, an obsesser of all things DIY, design and decor related.
Most of what you'll see here are ways to live inexpensively, and how I put those into practice with my constant need to renovate houses.
We are a military family of 7, so houses must come big and inexpensive, and made beautiful as we go, turning what most would see as trash, into treasure.
Thanks for stopping by, stay awhile and make yourself at home. I hope you enjoy my ideas.

Nice work woman, I love the addition of the Christmas balls. It’s rustic and festive. My Christmas decorating has not began yet but hopefully soon.
