I was happy to spot this piece of abandoned wood the other day while I was running.
OK, so I spotted 2-3 pieces of wood….and talked my husband into pulling them out of a huge garbage pile and placing them in our stroller.
Do you do this sort of thing? Does your husband roll his eyes, but put up with you anyways?
We ran a good 2 miles back like this.
One man mentioned that he didn’t think our stroller would “take off”. I think he thought it looked like a plane.
I had been wanting some wood for the table centerpiece, and I was sure one of these pieces would work.
I added some silver and glitter…
And candles and evergreen cuttings (notice my 2 yr old decided to color on my number..just keepin’ it real!)…
And more shiny-stuff and a disco ball or two.
What, you don’t use disco balls in your Christmas decor?
All I had to do was give it a good cleaning and dry brush a little white paint here and there.
Do you junk when you run, or walk, or when you’re driving by, doing something totally unrelated to junking?

Most of what you'll see here are ways to live inexpensively, and how I put those into practice with my constant need to renovate houses.
We are a military family of 7, so houses must come big and inexpensive, and made beautiful as we go, turning what most would see as trash, into treasure.
Thanks for stopping by, stay awhile and make yourself at home. I hope you enjoy my ideas.

Oh you just know how much I love this!!! You go girl! and thumbs up to your husband for helping you out!
Tami @ Curb Alert!
Thanks Tami! Yes, this project is right up your alley!
simple and amazingly beautiful!
Thanks Daniela!
I can’t decide which I love more…that your husband loaded the boards on your stroller, that your 2 year old is displaying crafting tendencies or that gorgeously decorated table! Guess I love it all! Nice job!
Thanks Danni! I tried to keep the two and three yr old off of them until I got the nails out! lol

Score! It’s the perfect rustic touch to all your holiday sparkle. I love it.
Thanks Robin!
That’s totally something I would talk my hubby into doing. { I met a very nice homeless man while we (the man and I) were going through a curbside trash pile the other day. He patiently went through the pile with me as I searched for the match to a pair of Toms that were my size! We never found the other shoe, but he ended up helping me load up a headboard that has since been turned in to a bench. } I love those weathered pieces of wood; anything that is interesting and has a story makes decor way more appealing! Kudos on a job well done! ps, I totally think that stroller could take off, lol… xoxox jules
The other day I drove home and saw a 24 x 24 piece of lattice in the middle of the road. Took my dog for a walk, and picked it up. Not sure what I will use it for yet…however, I love to find things while out walking the dog!
Me too! You can’t beat free!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love that you ran for two miles with your awesome find. That is dedication. I was totally picturing it in your arms though before I saw the photo. That would have been priceless! Looks perfect on your table I love the mix of rustic and glam.
Thanks Mimi. You’re right, I could have looked like a real work-out-aholic if I had thrown it over my shoulder, or across the back of my neck and ran the rest of the way home! lol. That would have really got me some weird looks!

Stunning! Sourcing: Remarkable!
Thanks Judy!

Yes ma’am I junk anyway I can. Don’t people throw away the most wonderful stuff? I found two faux stone porch planters and 4 wrought iron hanging inplanters in a ditch (a ditch, I tell you)! My late husband used to say I make his pack-rattiness look wimpy. I think your stroller is just earning its keep. The table is grand. Love the crayonned on 6.
Thanks Regena. Sounds like you found some awesome finds! In a ditch….sometimes I’m not only amazed at what people through away, but also amazed as to where they throw it! lol

Thanks Aimee!
LOL, I had to laugh because junking seems like it has become a way of life for me lately! It’s so much fun taking something somebody throws away and making it into something fabulous just as you did! Love it all! May I ask where you got your buckets? I need some and can’t find any junking lol.
Thanks Teresa! I found the buckets at either Target on the dollar rack (a couple yrs ago), or on clearance at a Joanne’s fabrics. I’ve had them awhile.

Rustic + Disco Balls…I didn’t think it could be done but I’m in LOVE!
haha! I never thought of it that way, but you’re right. It is an odd combo. I think the eclectic gal in me just loves throwin’ it all together. lol
It looks so lovely!
haha…sweet hubbies…! it’s hardly junk any more…thank you for sharing…xo
Thanks Lucy! There’s something fulfilling about putting junk to use!
“Do you do this sort of thing? Does your husband roll his eyes, but put up with you anyways?”
I had to laugh at this because it is so my husband and I! And the picture of the wood on the stroller was priceless.
Thanks doll,

I think those of us who love to “junk” find such humor in others junking stories
We’re all a little crazy
