Organizing in the New Year

It’s a New Year!

Time to start clean!

When we lived in Hawaii, we learned the Japanese culture aims to have their houses and yards cleaned by the New Year.

I think it sounds like a more appropriate time then “Spring Cleaning”.  Don’t we all feel bombarded and weighed down after the holidays?

Are your toy boxes overflowing like mine?

With well-intended gifts-a-plenty?

January is a great month to SIMPLIFY!

Here are some smart and inexpensive ideas!

Make a jewelry holder to organize your jewelry.

This one I made for my Master Bedroom and I LOVE IT! It really does keep all my jewelry organized, and I’ve been using it for over a year.

There are a million different ways to make them on Pinterest and Google.

Need an office space?

Transform your closet like this incredible office-closet from Simplicity in the South.

I did the same thing in my downstairs closet. It’s a little cramped, but at least everything has a place!

You can check out my sewing nook here.

Classy Clutter used the extra space by their fridge to store their canned food…..brilliant!

This is a Lazy Susan I made for back to school, but it could be used for kid’s activities everyday.

Hope these ideas and spaces give you a little inspiration!

I’m ready to start cleaning things out….now to just find a little time.

  1. Thanks for sharing my door organizers :) Love the other ideas too!

  2. Great ideas!

  3. I am so in love with your “in the closet” sewing space. That’s just the cutest idea! I shared it on my Once Upon a Firefly FB page. Pinned it, too, of course.

    • Thanks Ann! I’m glad you liked it. I have really enjoyed it. It’s a small and cramped space to keep straightened, but it’s nice that everything has a place.

  4. So many great ideas. I am absolutely trying to organize for the New Year. My Christmas stuff is still up though so I might be a bit behind ;)

  5. Great ideas! I have to check out that garage post … our garage is a disaster!

    • We don’t even have one….with 5 kids and army/outdoor stuff to boot! One the bright side, I can’t keep as many 1/2 finished projects! :) Next house….I would LOVE to have an organized garage though!

  6. What creative organizing ideas! I love the door organizer! You’re invited to share your post at SHOW-licious Craft Showcase. :)

  7. Great collection of ideas! I think I am going to have to put a few of these into action. :)
