Since I’ve been a little absent lately, I thought I would start re-introducing some of my fall projects from last year. I tried to do the “30 days of posting” challenge last fall, not that I made it, but it did lead to a LOT of fall projects…some of which, I never even blogged about.
So here are three things I did with any old sweater last year. If you have one that needs a better use, here are some ideas. If you don’t have one and like these projects, a simple sweater is usually under $5 at your local thrift store.
I chose a cable knit sweater from the thrift store to make a sweater pillow last fall.
I loved it. After a year of use by 7 people, it’s looking it’s age, but still looks cozy in a corner and welcomes a good book and a cup of coffee.
You can see the tutorial for the Sweater Pillow here.
As I made this sweater pillow and was cutting the sleeves off the sweater I thought about making them into boot socks, which I am still a big fan of.
So that’s what I did. You can read the tutorial for boot socks here.
At this point I was basically down to scraps, but sometimes scraps are just perfect.
So I made Eva a headband out of one of them. The scraps were already cut in even strips because I used a rotary cutter to cut the sweater, so I just sewed up the sides with a zig-zag stitch and sewed the ends together. There was some stretch to the sweater, so it worked great. Then I added a fabric flower I had purchased at Joann’s on clearance.
Cute huh? I never got around to posting on the last one, and I guess that’s so I have something new to share this year.
I hope you’re all doing well! The floors in the house are now done! Time to move in. I just figured you were tired of seeing floor pictures. Heck, I’m even tired of seeing my floor pictures! I’ll post on them more later.
Have a great weekend!
