Replace Your Light Fixture with No Wiring and Under $20!

Remember that time I gave my front porch a makeover?

….well, everything but the front light fixture.

Light Fixture Before

And I asked all of you what light to choose…

….and then a year and a half went by!

I just couldn’t decide on what I wanted!

My porch is already pretty busy and I didn’t want the light to be decoration overkill,

but I didn’t want anything to be plain either.

So the other day I was walking through Lowes and saw this metal light cage.

I really liked it, and started thinking about where I could use it, and then the front porch came to mind!

Not only would it be an inexpensive solution (around $18), but my husband wouldn’t have to wire it in…

and I wouldn’t have to wait for him!

So I bought it….

and it worked!

It’s meant to go on a pendent so I had to use a little wire to keep it from wobbling around and looking lopsided.

The best part was NO WIRING!

New Light Fixture Without Wiring Inexpensive and Easy Solution

It’s not my dream light fixture, but for $18 and one heck of an easy installation, I’ll take it!

*This was obviously a project I did back in the fall. It’s held up well and I’m still liking it!

I think I can now consider the porch complete!

Does that last detail ever take you a couple years?

  1. I love it and finding just the right things is always worth the wait!

  2. Your porch is so cute. I love that light fixture. I think something like this could work in our three season room instead of the ugly ceiling fan we have. Isn’t it nice to check something off the never ending home to do list. 🙂

  3. That’s such a great solution, and so much easier than installing a new light fixture. It looks great!

  4. Your Porch is so lovely! I am popping over from Blesser House 🙂 That cage is so clever- such an inexpensive update, but it co-ordinates so well with your door handle, house numbers and mail boxes. Sometimes I choose inexpensive place holders until I find what I really want- or until I have saved up enough to buy it!

  5. love your front porch, but curious what color is your front door?

    • Hi Tonya,

Thank you! The door is actually a self-mixed color. I brought home a yellow that I liked and added gray, and green until I had made the perfect yellow for a front door.
