I love the idea of customizing a space with a saying.
Since I didn’t have a fancy machine to cut vinyl letters for me, my handwriting isn’t very nice, and I just wasn’t able to buy the saying I wanted pre-made…
I had to come up with a way to nicely trace words on my wall.
I looked through my sewing room for ideas and I found tracing paper that I’ve used for pattern making.
First, print out a saying that you like, in fonts that you like (and the size you want).
Tape them up on the wall in the place you’d like them to be so you can really get a good visual of what your project will look like.
The fonts used are:
DJB Holly Jolly B’Golly
H&B Sketch Demo
Chalk Line Outline
Next, place the tracing paper behind the words that are taped on the wall.
Use a pencil (or something with a nice tip) to trace the outline of the letters and any detail.
After you have traced the letters with your pencil you can remove the words that have been taped up.
Next I hand painted the words using a small, fine tipped paint brush. I used two of the paint colors that were used for the mountains so it’d coordinate.
My letters turned out just how I’d hoped- creating a one of a kind space.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it inspires you to add some inspiration to your home.
