Day #11: House Number Pumpkins

Wow! I can’t believe it’s Day #11 in the 31 Days of Thrifty Fall Decor series!

Today’s Topic:

House Number Pumpkins

People find such incredible ways to paint pumpkins. I’ve seen everything from detailed pictures to basic silhouettes to chevron.

I decided to go for something simple.

I used Edwardian Script size 350, and printed out our house address.

I taped the numbers on the pumpkin, so I would know they were where I wanted them.

Be careful that they are straight across and not slanted.

I traced the numbers on the pumpkin, pressing hard enough to make an indentation.

Then I colored them in with black Sharpies. I used two different Sharpies since mine were somewhat old, I used a little black paint on the thicker parts of the numbers, but if you had a big dry erase marker, and a little Sharpie, I think you would be fine. The only thing that makes it tough is if there is any moisture on the pumpkin, so be sure to dry it good. If it’s damp, the markers won’t work well.

It took about three coats of Sharpie to get the numbers filled in well enough.

Biggest plus to this project is how easy it is, and if you already have a pumpkin,

it would be another way to dress up your front porch for free.

I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday already.

Do you have any fall plans for your weekend?

  10. Thanks for the great idea! I made one myself with vinyl and a faux pumpkin. Real pumpkins don’t last too long in Central Florida, they get gross quickly! You can see it here:

    • lol! I bet they do! I have years where mine last longer than other years, but luckily it’s cold enough to keep them good for awhile!
