So, With the Kids Wednesday is a day late this week, but better late than never!
Today, we created some awesome art for our downstairs gallery wall! Perfect for a frame that is without glass!
I found this frame at the GW awhile back, and have tired using it three different times. For some reason, in the past, it just hadn’t worked.
I took some thicker white and black paper (I needed to buy large paper and use a big frame because I have 5 kids), and cut the white to fit the back of the frame, and the black to fit inside that.
Then I got the kids in painting clothes (or maybe I didn’t), and painted their hands. This little man had the most fun with this project!
Next, I had each child (evenly) place their painted hand in the middle of the black paper.
Then I took a white crayon (you could use a white marker, or chalk) and wrote the child’s name and age.
…and now we have a memorable piece of art for our basement gallery wall!

Check out the Pasco GW down by the Farmer’s Market. They always seem to have good stuff! (that’s assuming you live in Pasco) I’m in Richland and use New Beginnings Thrift Store on Lee, then I check the GW by Fred Meyers.
I go to the stores in Richland. That is where we live too. NB is my favorite. They have the BEST thrift store prices!

Lovely- pinned this. Great idea, so simple, and the little man loves hand painting, we did an ikea hack recently of handprints on a lampshade.

I want to do this for my father-in-law’s birthday this weekend! This may be a silly question, but what kind of paint do you recommend for this?
I used latex paint. From the same gallon I used on my baseboards.
It was a stain sheen, but I think any sheen would do. Glossier might be really neat.
If you don’t have the color you want, Walmart or any craft store, sell the little bottles of paint. They are usually around a dollar and a half. Any of those would do fine.

I found the cutest website with magnet necklaces for mom and daughter. I just bought a set for daughter Becky and me to wear on mom’s day! That will be fun.
